“The Musicians of the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra were so impressed with the innovative fundraising efforts of the Fort Worth Opera that we decided to reach into our own pockets to contribute to their campaign” said Dan Sigale, chairman of the musicians’ negotiating committee. “We agree with the idea that there is additional financial support to be found in Fort Worth, and that a positive, creative approach is the best way to find it.”
The capital campaign, which was unveiled by the Opera on June 1, has a goal of $500,000. An anonymous individual donor has promised to match all funds raised dollar for dollar up to that amount. The opera management seeks to expand its donor base, and is aiming for donors of all means and ages who want to help support the opera’s “cross-generational appeal” and dedication to new works. The Symphony musicians applaud the management of the Opera on finding creative solutions to difficult problems.
The campaign will continue until August 31. The musicians encourage the public to support the Opera and their Million Dollar Campaign by making an online donation here.
